Our Mission
Be kind
to our wonderful world
and all that it holds
About Me: Catherine Riney
My passion for travel started when I was young, with family trips, and stories from my parents and my grandparents.
My world has always been split between 2 countries growing up. I was born in the United States of Irish Americans on my father’s side and Australian Irish on my mother’s side. As an 18 year old my family moved to Australia from the United States.
No surprise really that I then did what past generations have done and embarked on my own travel adventures! I ended up settling in London and have two amazing daughters of my own.
A lot of you reading this will understand when I say, as this is the third country I have lived for a significant amount of time, I will never be from one, always from many. I hold each culture, country and the different experiences they have given me, close. Growing up as part of both my American family & friends and Australian family & friends has been amazing. And where would I be without my eclectic group of London friends & family!
About Our World Travel Logs
and our products
Our World Travel Logs was born by the very fact that to see my closest family I had to travel. The name came from starting this project by thinking about the world we live in and how we travel through it (actually & metaphorically).
The first travel log (currently in development stage with my second one) came about after using various other log books and diaries that didn't quite work for me. So I went on to create my own to use for myself and my children to preserve our adventures together and apart.
Then as I was in the final stages of development and printing, I entered and won a entrepreneur competition, with fourteen other amazing small business start ups. We were given a small amount of cash, a business mentor, and other support along the way. I entered the competition as I was about to go on holiday. So as I travelled through the USA the summer of 2018 I went through each stage of the competition process. Sending photos on the morning of my sisters wedding, doing an interview in on a car journey and a final Dragon's Den (or Shark Tank equivalent) style elevator pitch and questioning by none other than Touker Suleyman while in a tent in Minnesota, USA! The perfect way really, for the launch of my business.
The products have to be eco-friendly, made from responsibly sourced paper, using vegan inks and green energy.
I love that my travel memories are captured in a physical booklet that doesn't need batteries or Wi-Fi. Where anyone can hand it to someone else to start a new journey of connection and community. We always ask the pilot to fill in our travel logs! If you see me on a flight, I always have a few extras with me, I gave one to the lovely family behind me on my last flight!
During lockdown strangely or maybe not, started writing travel stories, always including an environmental element to contribute to the conversation on enjoying and protecting our planet. Friends and family have generously been writing and contributing their own stories into the mix!

After 20 years in business management, Riney decided to act on her idea last year.
“I’ve lived in three different countries and I do feel like a citizen of the world,” she says. Aimed at helping travellers engage with their journeys and destinations, Riney hopes her sustainable travel logs will help people think about their impact on the world. “I’m starting a campaign #WeHaveNoticed about positive things people have done around sustainability. I believe everyone can make a difference, however small.”
